1kit comes with the wrong saddle valve  Oct 06, 2011 By TM "south jersey"
I bought this kit to hook up the water line to my new Whirlpool fridge. This kit is made by Whirlpool and its the one recommended by them. The instructions say "drill a hole in a vertical cold water pipe" in your home. The next step says to "insert the pilot tube on the saddle valve into the hole". There is an illustration showing the "pilot tube" inserted in the pipe to make a watertight connection. The only problem is there is no "pilot tube" on the valve supplied with the kit. The valve that comes with the kit bears no resemblance to the valve described and PICTURED in the installation instructions. Somehow Whirlpool or whoever they hired is packaging these kits with the wrong valves. The kit is useless without the correct valve. I called Whirlpool and they were no help- they don't seem to care. Hopefully Amazon will do the right thing and refund my money.
