Works, Great Price, not exactly as pictured Aug 07, 2011
By David The good: 1. The ice maker fits in my KitchenAid refrigerator and it works.
2. The price was right: $54 w/ free shipping.
3. The ice maker comes with more wire harnesses than shown in the picture. I'd recommend anyone who buys this, keep their old ice maker as you may want to 'recycle' your old wire harness just in case.
The not so good: 1. The fill cup needed to be modified to accept the fill tube. It's molded in such a way as to make this modification easy, however, in my case when I tried to cut it, it developed a couple of cracks. Sounds worse than it is. Not even a drop falls outside of the ice maker -- it's just a funnel. But the quality of this part is suspect - they should have used a softer, less brittle plastic that would cut easier.
2. The picture shows two shut off arms (the bent silver wire). Mine only came with one and it wasn't the one I needed. The shut off arm from my original ice maker fit in perfectly, so I just 'recycled' it.
Other info: 1. I purchased this from "Buy-It-Now Store". It arrived in about a week via USPS. I live in MD.
2. What shipped to me was Supco part# RIM943. I don't think this is a genuine Whirlpool part, but it's exceptionally close to the original part.
3. At first it didn't work, the thermostat needs to get below freezing. Don't be alarmed if it doesn't get going immediately.
Conclusion: Should this ice maker fail in four or five years like the last one did, I'll buy it again. Issues I had were extremely minor. I'd have rated four stars (even w/ the cracks), but not including all the parts shown in the picture isn't right. Had I thrown away my old ice maker (and the old shut-off arm) before this arrived, I still wouldn't have a working ice maker. Seller should change the picture to reflect what actually ships, or change the product to reflect what's in the picture.
I HATE ICE TRAYS Mar 25, 2012
By Butthead the real reason for male pattern baldness Just received my new ice maker replacement kit from the Buy-It-Now store thru Amazon. Delivery was outstanding,KUDDOS to FED-EX, three days from ordering to installation!(WHY it takes other so called vendors 2 to 3 days just to ship,I'll never understand NOR will I use them). Buy-It-Now told me exactly what I needed, shipped the same day, and now I'm waiting for my first batch of ice for my HAPPY DRINK,(Parrot Bay on-the-rocks). Don't say it's too early to be drinking either,(2PM) blame the Buy-It-Now store and Amazon for the excellent service!!!!!!!!!!! Update:That was yesterday, today is Sunday morning (Good morning Lord) and just to let everyone know, the ice maker worked exactly as advertised and the drink was delicious! Thanks again.
Ice maker Sep 28, 2011
By bobby57530 This was a true life saver . I was not sure about changing unit myself but was surprised at how easy it was and works great. Saved over 150 bucks on installation alone and 75 bucks on purchase price........
Great for the price. Jul 27, 2011
By Dodgeboy I bought this product because my Kenmore Ice maker was leaking and then I noticed that the trays that hold the ice were corroded. Yuck! This is a great replacement for the Kenmore part, just a lot less expensive. This part does not have the option for express ice and a small piece of plastic must be removed to fit in some models. This is so the water tube (from the fridge) will fit correctly into the new icemaker.
Ice Maker replacement Jun 29, 2011

Needed to replace the ice maker in our Whirlpool side-by-side refigerator-freezer, which had developed a crack in the plastic and was leaking water and creating icicles in the freezer! The RIM943 was an exact replacement, and came with adequate instructions for installation. A new harness was included, although the old harness can be used. A harness adaptor was also included for installations that may use a different plug (not needed for my Whirlpool). Romoval of the old Ice Maker and installation of the new took about 15 minutes. Working in the freezer side of a side-by-side is tight and I used a little mirror to align and insert the three screws to mount the assembly, and I recommend this, because you cannot see these locations. The screws are all 1/4" slotted heads. Recommend you use a socket wrench and don't try using a screw driver. After allowing the freezer to cool down, it didn't take long to hear the valve open, the sound of water into the ice maker, and a bit later the sound of the ice cubes plopping into the tray. And, oh, it is a good price. Rated this product high because it is indeed an exact replacement, good instructions, included everything needed to install, and a good price.
