MOST EATEN SEED OF ALL Jul 18, 2011
By Laura J. Cremmins
"Kat Cremmins"
Songbird and Cardinal Preferred Blend Bird Food I bought this along with 3 other seeds and I have to say this was the seed that was eaten the fastest. I used 2 other mixes, 1 from the same company which was the 2nd fasted eaten seed and an AudubonAudobon Premium Wild Bird Food. The 3rd fastest eaten seed was Mills Brothers Fruit, Nut & Berry Premium Wild Bird Mix in Easy Pour & Store Container. The 4th seed was 40 pound Black Oil Sunflower seed from a local retailer which goes into a large roofed platform feeder which holds 10 pounds so it stays half full. We use a varity of feeders including the Brome Mini squirrel buster and several smaller feeders including 3 suet feeders and 2 cylinder feeders with a feeding tray on the ground. We have a great assortment of birds from cardinals to house finches, Carolina wrens, titmice, Carolina chickadees, doves, great crested flycatchers, woodpeckers, creepers, goldfinches, pine warblers & yellow rump warblers(for the suet & peanut butter),a tribe of blue jays,a pair of mockers with 5 fledglings and a family of brown thrashers that use our birdbaths and food daily. I bought this to try to intice the Painted Buntings which nest on a small island in the marsh and it took 3 weeks but the female finally checked it out. The buntings LOVE proso millet and she eats everyday when things are quiet. She brought 2 young last weekend and her mate was here yesterday so maybe we can get some pics of this wonderful bird dressed in his red, blue, green and yellow mating plumage. He is magnificent so testing the more expensive mixes with the proso millet was really worth the cost. As far as I can tell NOONE eats the wheat! We are on the Ashley River and marsh so we also see the water birds which come to drink from the small pond and check out the area for fiddlers. One of the posters said something about buying this to bring his order to $25 so he could get free shipping. We are Amazon PRIME members and all items are shipped FREE 2nd Day AIR (as long as they are from Amazon)and this has saved us over $250 since Feburary '11. I expect our yearly savings to be over $500 with this membership. It is GREAT to be able to buy an $8 suet feeder and have it shipped 2nd day air for free. If I need anything I can have it shipped OVERNIGHT for $3.99. Sure beats paying shipping or having to build a $25 order.

My wild birds love this seed-- so do the squirrels. It really attracts all the beautiful nature animals who love seeds.

Birds love this stuff Jan 02, 2011
By A. Frankenfield I was really hoping to get some cardinals, blue jays, and woodpeckers back into my yard by putting this feed out, but I have found that some other birds really like it as well. We have a lot of little birds (maybe finches based on chests that appear yellowish) that have been frequenting the yard in large groups to hang out at the feeders. When they spill it on the ground, the wild doves come and forage down there, so we got an added bonus. I would recommend getting a good squirrel spray unless you want to feed them too, because they also appear to like it a bit too much.

Fine birdseed. Aug 13, 2011
By lalalaa_dolce_vita
"YES!"
This seed was great, and I bought two bags of it before I decided to just glance through the bird aisle at the pet store. Turns out you can get a GIANT bag of birdseed for less than this bag cost, so I don't buy it anymore.
The only drawback to this product, though it's 'premium'- it's seeds with shells, so the feeder gets emptied really fast, and the food:shell ratio is about 1:3, which leaves a big mess of shells on the ground below.
