| | Features | Improves shiftingDesigned for use in manual transmissions and transaxlesProvides excellent protection of gears and synchronizers
| |
| | Description | Red Line MTL and MT-90 are designed to provide excellent protection and improved shiftability for manual transmissions and transaxles, having cured the problem of hard shifting in thousands of transmissions with shifting troubles. They have the appropriate coefficient of friction for most manual transmission synchronizers (many gear oils, engine oils, and ATFs are too slippery for proper synchro engagement). And, the wide viscosity of MTL and MT-90 allow proper shifting over the entire temperature range which the transmission will experience. The synthetic base oils used have a very high viscosity index which provides relatively constant viscosity as temperature changes. MTL is a low 70W at very low temperatures and a high 80W, nearly an 85W, at elevated temperatures, providing adequate viscosity to prevent wear and deaden gear noise. MT-90 is a thicker 75W90 version of MTL. The shear stability and oxidation stability of these products are excellent, thus the physical characteristics of Red Line MTL and MT-90 will change little with use. | |

this is a 70W80 GL-4 oil Nov 02, 2011
By Kaleem Z. Khwaja The product description doesn't specify, so I thought that info might be helpful to people. If you want 75W90 GL-4 oil, you need product# 50304.

My Jeep shifts more smoothly now Mar 23, 2010

I have a Jeep with the AX-15 gearbox with the familiar difficulty in shifting into 1st and 2nd. Replacing the existing fluid with this product has resulted in slightly smoother shifting. It won't cure the fact that the synchronizers are wearing out eventually, but it's made things smoother for the time being.

The Best! Oct 16, 2011
By Tim I have a 1999 Mazda Miata and I have been using MTL in my transmission for the past 15,000 miles and I have no complaints. Since switching from the stock fluid I have seen an improvement in the smoothness of each shift,it's great!!

Fantastic difference Aug 28, 2011
By Dylan Cooper There' not much to say about this product, it is after all gear oil. I have an AX-15 and it is very picking on gear oil because of soft yellow metal issues. Recently Aisin (the maker of the ax series transmissions) added 10/30 motor oil to it's list of approved lubricants. I gave it a try but was not at all pleased with the results. I switched to this Redline MTL and the difference is night and day. It shifts as good as a 14 year old, original parts, transmission can. This should hold me off quite a while before a rebuild.

Works good. Aug 11, 2011
By Luis I have a 07 civic si these cars are known to have bad transmissions. So before using this product I had notchy shifting in all my gears and small grinds when driving normal(under 4k rpm). When shifting at high rpm I would have lots of grinding. So I decided to change my trans oil with the redline product will it was definitely worth it when driving normal I no longer have notchy shifting, shifting is really smooth now and I also don't have small grinds. I been driving 3000 miles already and its still working fine. It didn't fix my high rpm grinding though I still get gear grinds not the oils fault I heard changing your clutch master cylinder with a aftermarket unit will fix this. I highly recommend redline transmission oil!
