There are pros and cons to getting a bit older. Probably a few more cons than pros. ;o) For men, one of the cons is having to get up frequently at night due to an enlarged prostate. When it got to be 2-3 time a night I went to a naturopathic physician who prescribed Pros-5Lo, by NewMark. Since I take several prescription drugs I also reviewed this with my personal physician to avoid any conflicts. I found that product to be very effective within a week or so but I had some difficulty getting a refill.

I found something similar at a local natural health store but, while I had similar results, it was more expensive. When offered a trial of this product, "Prostate 5lx by New Chapter", I discovered that the ingredients were identical to the original prescription. I have been taking "Prostate 5lx by New Chapter" for over a month now and, while I can't say it works better than the others, I have found it to be at least as effective. When I decided to reorder I was very pleased to discover that that it cost much less than the other products. At the time of writing this I was able to get twice the quantity (120) for about the same price as 60 of the originally prescribed supplement. I was also able to take advantage of my Amazon Prime membership.

This has the very best ingredients that has been known to "shrink" or maintain the prostate from growing. All men will have an enlarged prostate given enough time. So it will be good to begin supplementation at around 30.

I am not a doctor, but it was around that time for me when it was a tad noticeable.

Ingredients:

Saw Palmetto 320 mg (85%-95% total fatty acids)

Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil 96 mg

I have lived with chronic prostatitis regularly for the last six years. It's pretty strange for someone my age, especially since I started having the issues at the age of 22. My father has had the same issues and my younger brother began having prostate problems around the age of 18, so It must be heriditary to my gene pool. Anyways, I have tried TONS of products to relieve my worst symptoms. From every known vitamin and herb to every known perscription from a physician. I decided to give this a try and was eager to see if it had any effect on my symptoms (my main symptoms are extreme discomfort and having to go at night ALL THE TIME!). I am not impressed.

I didn't notice ANY change in symptoms or discomforts related to prostate issues. I am not sure if it's the quality of the ingredients or something else, but this had no effect on my problems. I do not recommend it at all. I do have some recommendations for people though who might be searching for relief. Solaray has something out called (easy enough) Prostate Caps. They are made from bovine prostate extract and they have given me some relief. I also have to say that after two months of perscription Avodart, I am definitely showing great improvement. I highly recommend trying out Avodart if you can. Also, a multivitamin containing zinc and quercetin is a help too! Give those a try. Skip this!!

Having used this for a month, I can say I have been pleasantly surprised. Of course I can not tell for sure it is helping my prostrate, but it has helped my daily restroom visits and, frankly, my libido seems to have been kicked up a bit (no complaints there from anyone in the house).

The pills are just the right size and go down easy. No upset stomach at all whenever I have used them. The ingredients seem to be top-notch which is really the main thing you want with any supplement. Anyone can claim anything on their label but is what they claim actually what you are getting. With this I feel I am. Recommended.

New Chapter has a very good reputation for making high quality products. Unlike many other brands, New Chapter makes supplements that are closer to natural food than synthetic supplements.

Prostate 5LX softgels are nicely sized and very easy to swallow.

This is primarily a "Saw Palmetto" product supported by many other nutrients. This product is a nice formulation of Selenium, Saw Palmetto, Green Tea, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Ginger, Stinging Nettle and Rosemary.

Saw Palmetto helps regulate hormones, it can help avoid conversion of testosterone to estradiol. Don't take more than two of these softgels per day as excessive saw palmetto can lead to reduced libido.

Clinical studies (with humans) have demonstrated that ingestion of pumpkin seed extract can improve the structural support of the bladder and the function of the sphincter muscle.

Rosemary enhances vitamin D's anti-cancer activity, so inclusion in this product may help prevent prostate cancer.

Don't expect miracles, but this good natural product should help maintain prostate health. Plan two months or longer before expecting to notice any benefits.
