Fix your "warm " refrigerator May 24, 2011

This is the second time that this part has failed in my refrigerator.
this is an OEM part, and it seems to fail every few years.
It fits perfect and your freezer defroster comes back to life again.
there are sites on the Internet that tells you how to replace the timer with simple tools and avoid expensive service calls.

I installed this into my Jenn-Air fridge. It was quite easy and fixed my defrost problems.
I also had to use a small hose to blow out the drip pan below the freezer coil. It was also clogged and allowed water to run out the bottom of my freezer.

This is NOT an OEM replacement part. It is a third-party replacement part. But it fits, and it works perfectly well.

I have a maytag side by side and the coils kept freezing over, after a little research on the web it was looking like this thing was a possible culprit. Bought the item a few months back and installed it, my fridge is still working fine and no more freezing up of the coils : Wasnt' too hard to install either (this from someone who had never worked ona fridge before)

Unit is redesigned version of the failure prone old version of 61005988. Relay and C2 have been upgraded and that is good. However the firmware that runs this unit seems somewhat lacking, in that it does not defrost the refrigerator often enough to keep the chilled water bladder from freezing up. Also the diagnostic led does not seem to indicated problems like it claims to. I had a bad defrost thermostat yet the led blinked on/ off at 1 second intervals saying that everythink was ok.
