Maybe I got a lemon.........? Nov 09, 2010

This thing is a piece of crap in my opinion.
I bought it for my deck because I want some ambient lighting.
There were reviews about this item when I purchased it a July 2010, but there are none now.. Why is that?
Charging Performance The missing reviews complained that it would not charge while others said that it charged just fine. I moved it around my deck to many different placed to try and capture as much direct light as possible. It turned into a chore and did little to improve performance.
Battery Life The missing reviews said that the battery was weak and to replace it with a high quality (high mAh capacity) I replaced they battery with little improvement mainly because of the Charging Performance (See above)
Quality/ water resistant The item rusted out in three months (again, I left it outside on my deck) and threw it away.
Maybe I got a lemon.........?

By joujou It didn't work when it arrived. Nothing looked broken, but it wouldn't charge. I even left it outside on a sunny day and got nothing..

Not Durable Apr 03, 2011

Bought this good-looking LED lamp in late October. Here we are in early April and it's kaput. I really like the look and it gave off just enough light to add a bit of ambient light to our covered patio table. The lamp worked fine for the first 3-4 months, but started rusting and having charging issues shortly after that. It was relatively cheap - $11-ish, but I expected to get more than five months life out of the thing.
It should state in the description that it is for indoor use only.

LOVE this sun jar! May 12, 2011

I love love love this sun jar. It's so cute and unique. I leave it out in the sunshine during the day and bring it in at night. It has a soft glow until morning time. I've had it for about three or four months now and it still works and shines just as bright as the day I got it. It reminds me of a jar of fireflies. Very calming!
A little picky but worth it! Dec 31, 2011
By Aaanon So i got this jar for my sister for Christmas and right after she opened it we put it in our sunroom to collect sunlight. That evening when we clicked it over to the ON position nothing happened. The next day we tried a different location with even more sunlight. Same thing happened later when the sun had gone down. Finally, the third day we put it outside directly in the sun and moved it every several hours to still face the sun. I guess that was the kind of dedication it took because it worked! So, moral of the story: this jar is lovely and so cute (it's like you're capturing sunlight c: ) but it only works if you monkey around with it to find it's perfect circumstances. I think it's definitely worth it.
Update!: I think it was only so picky to get it started because now it doesn't require so much attention and still works great!
