Not quite as cool-looking as the metal one, but still pretty cool-looking May 15, 2010
By Pointedstick Let's be honest here. The reason we buy these Magpul trigger guards is because they look cool. We tell ourselves it's because we need more room in the trigger area for gloved hands in EXTREME TACTICOOL WINTER OPERATIONS but really, we don't need these things at all. We buy them because they make our rifles look cool. And there's nothing wrong with that!
Magpul makes two of these; a metal one and a plastic one for half the price. This is the plastic one. There are two ways that these trigger guards make your gun look cool:
1. the exterior curvature matches the angle on the magazine well and flows nicely into the grip 2. The interior curvature matches the curvature of the trigger guard area
The more-expensive metal one does both of these things perfectly. This one does #1 perfectly but #2 only reasonably well. When you look at your gun from the side with one of these on it, you'll notice that the interior curvature is a bit shallow in some places, such that the trigger guard area's interior has two slight "bulges" near the attachment points. Is this a big deal? Not in your life. But because the only reason to buy these is coolness, I have to admit that the plastic MOE is a little bit less cool-looking than the metal one. I'm sure this is intentional, too. Positive. Magpul knows why people buys these and they are a bunch of clever, clever people for segmenting their product line in this way.
Knowing this, I would probably go with the metal one in the future. Again, there's nothing *wrong* with the MOE, it's just a bit less cool.
Finally, when buying black rifle stuff, it becomes easy to forget about the cost of all these accessories. For the price of 6 or 7 of these trigger guards, you can buy a completely functional Mosin-Nagant rifle. Just a thought.

Caution Dec 03, 2010
By Barry Rex Jones This trigger guard works great. I specifically got it to fill in the gap that tears up my middle finger while I'm shooting, and it does that just fine.
A word of caution if you install this yourself. It doesn't mention this in the instructions, but make sure when you tap out the old roll pin and install the new one you support the side of the trigger guard. The two little tabs that the trigger guard attaches to are the weakest part of your lower receiver and they break off easily. A small block of wood with a hole drilled into it for the roll pin to fall through works great for this purpose.

Great inexpensive upgrade. May 29, 2011

This trigger guard is a great alternative to Magpuls more expensive aluminum trigger guard. I bought a few of the poly ones when I was building multiple receivers to keep cost down a bit. To be honest I like the poly ones as much as the aluminum. Looks just as good. Comfortable. Serves same purpose. Easy install. If it's a rifle I'm really pimping out then I buy the metal one. Happy with either one though.
As mentioned above, be sure and support the ears while removing or installing trigger guard roll pins.

Magpul MOE trigger guard Oct 13, 2011
By Nick Watch out when installing the trigger guard. Magpul requires you to thread a small hex screw into the front hole of the trigger guard. The force to thread the screw into the polymer is enough to strip the hex screw. Magpul could have pre-threaded the trigger guard, or included a more robust screw to use. The plunger in the front of the stock trigger guard is a much better design.

Refine the lines of your AR-15 Oct 04, 2011
By Robert L. Sault

I originally thought I wanted the Enhanced Aluminum Guard, but two idea's changed my mind. 1) I felt the Aluminum Guard would get dinged up in no time, where the Polymer Guard could take a lick'n and still look good! --and-- 2) The MOE Polymer guard (I.M.O.)just plain look better! Its lines are softer, and it complements my "MIAD" Grip Kit perfectly! And as a added bonus it cost less than half than the Aluminum guard.
Once I got everything I needed in place, it took me no more than 10-minutes to facilitate the change-over.
It was easy to do, but you can't be too careful, when punching out the existing coil-pin and installing the new one. I used a scrap of wood, (? 1 x 4 pine, drilled a 1/4" dia. through-it. Then I set the hole under the existing coil-pin (to be removed), and punched it down and out into the hole. When punching in the new coil-pin, assembling trigger guard to lover receiver, I used the same block of wood block, but not the hole.
Now that I have had the guard in place for some time now, I am really glad I chose the MOE Polymer Trigger Guard and feel you will also!
I would recommend the Magpul MOE Polymer Trigger Guard to my friends. It's a good deal, any way you look at it!
