4Good for small lakes...but needs additions  Jun 28, 2010 By SeBo
Have had this boat for 3 years now. Price was good, clearance sale at Wally World.

Pros:

Easy to load in truck or trailer.

Easy to tip over to clean.

Durable

Easy to power up with electric trolling motor.

Cons:

Formed seating is too low for comfort after extended hours. ( I installed swivel seat platforms and padded seats from Wally World that match the interior color of the boat perfectly. Looks like a small bass boat now )

Motor mounts compress excessively due to temperature so one has to ensure that the motor clamps are tightened periodically.

No cleats installed and since this is a "poly" boat, no dependable adhesive to attach. Resorted to "toggle" bolts.

Battery placements are fine if your battery is small. Marine size batteries are a bit long.

Built in rod holders are better suited to uprights for a top of some sort and not fishing rods. Too erect, with no angle towards the stern or port/starboard.

No offset stern motor mount for electric trolling motor like what is on the bow.

Overall, not a bad little boat. I'll be selling mine when my wood boat is completed.

3Returned cause unable to register boat with state  Mar 16, 2012 By James
I purchased this boat and it arrived in a very expeditious manner. However, I received two manufacture statement of origins (MSO), one of which was blank, and the other was blank minus a stamped signature from a person at Amazon named Nathan Allen (never figured out who he is). When I presented this to the state of Florida tag office to register the boat, they said this paperwork is absolutely incomplete. They said Allen needed to sign the MSO, and I must provide a receipt with a VIN and price.

Well, I called the manufacturer KL Industries for help. I rapidly learned they don't answer or retrun calls, but they do answer emails. Their response to me was the tag agency is wrong, and the person working with me was to strict. Go back and ask for a different representative; I started laughing when she told me this. it was the worst customer service advise that I ever received. She also told me KL would not assist with a completed MSO and receipt. I explained that all I needed was a MSO with a VIN and signature, and the KL customer service representative said, "No." Yes, I have her emails indicating this, and it is hilarious and disappointing.

My solution with Amazon, was simply to return the boat, which I did. My learning lesson is don't buy a boat through Amazon. I can only speak for Florida, but it will be a disaster if you try to register it. Don't waiste your time and money.

5Great boat!  Jan 11, 2012 By Bostonianguy
I purchased this boat for some light fishing. I became curious and I put this boat in the ocean. I stayed close to the coast line. The boat handled very well. It's well made and durable. I hit some rocks and the boat was fine.

5Boat  Sep 22, 2011 By rbaugher162
I thought having something as large as a boat shipped would be a problem. Not in this case. The shipping company called in advance to schedule a delivery time and was on time. The boat itself is a bit more heavy than expected, but can be moved with 2 people. It has plenty of room for 2 people and fishing gear on our pond. It's a very nice boat for the money.

1Not the boat for a decent Viking Funeral  Dec 04, 2011 By LWMccade "AHWOOH"
We got this for Uncle Leif's funeral. We did not know it was plastic- It and the durn Green coffin kit we got were not up to the job. After we got it(the coffin) assembled (6 hours)and uncle Leif on board,we poured in some coal oil and lit it off.(As an after thought , maybe we should have used a little kindling) All we got was a slightly singed uncle and a melted boat, not the glorious send off he had requested. He loved Viking movies. Tony Curtis was his favorite. Long story short, the boat melted down to the waterline way before we got the anticipated results. Next time its the Aluminum John Boat and a case of charcoal starter and that cardboard coffin too.
