Windows 7 touchscreen for the kitchen versus the iPad Aug 17, 2010
By BRDaddy I wanted to try a touchscreen in the kitchen area and this seemed to be the fastest available with the largest screen. I was always just grabbing the iPad to check email and calendar stuff but sometimes I couldn't find it, having left it somewhere else in the house. So now I have had the HP touchsmart for a month and I think it is very good but there is room for improvement. First, the screen is big and gorgeous. It is responsive and accurate for touch applications plus windows 7 and the processor is fast. It is quiet and boots rapidly which is key for me. The touch apps though are a mixed bag. The Calander app is a huge dissapointment since it is supposed to sync with google and it doesn't at all. It is a key component of why I got the computer so the family can share the calanders we all have and access everything. Maybe there will be an update? The recipe app is useful as it loads recipes you can find online. The notes app is ok as you can leave post it notes on the screen for others to see. The picture app is like Picasso from google with quick access to an online photo service. In comparison to the iPad, of course, the apps have a long way to go but Hp has taken a step in the right direction. I would pay $5 for apps for this Touchscreen if they were as good as the ones on the iPad I use everyday (like Calengoo, Informant, or some of the games). Maybe HP should have an app store for this? In any case, I am very happy with my purchase and would do it again. I looked at the Sony Vaio but didn't feel I needed to pay extra for the name and I am happy I didn't. Plus, the wireless connection worked perfectly out of the box and recognized my HP Printer upstairs immediately. Setup was a breeze and took 5 minutes max. Highly recommended if you want to try out a touchscreen desktop.

Very Satisfied with 1155 Nov 06, 2010
By D'bo We've had the HP TouchSmart 600-1155 for 2 months. Have had no problems. Using it for MS Office software, internet, photo editing, and watching Hulu. Very fast and responsive whether using touch screen or mouse. We have found that the edge of a fingernail or a stylus are better than using a finger tip for TouchSmart apps. All-in-one saves a lot of space and less wiring mess. Very satisfied so far. Found best price at Amazon.

HP service STINKS Nov 24, 2010
By John Bodanzio I had this computer for 57 days. At that point computer would just turn off. First day it happened 2 times. The next day 4 times and it keep doing more and more. I called HP and that's when the problems started. Took 3 tries to get someone on the phone who spoke enough English so that they could understand each other. Im no expert but what they wanted to do was a waist of time. On the forth call I got lucky and I could understand the person on the phone. They told me there was a MAJOR PROBLEM with the system. Wow I would have never thought of that. They wanted me to ship them the system for repair. I said send me a new one and the I would pack up the DEAD computer and send it back. We have been going around and around for days. I contacted the main office of HP. Don't know if that would help. I called Amazon and the are going to step in and help me. Amazon is the best. They want to take care of the customer. HP could care less. Once they have your money it's too bad if you have a problem.

Ecker Computer Services did a fantastic job. I got the PC fast and in the promised configuration. They were very thoughtful and answered my questions quickly prior to my order. Really nice to work with. The PC runs great and is accomplishing my goals for it!
amazing and fun May 09, 2011
By H. Yancey I purchased this item back in August of last year. It has been upgraded to WIN 7 Ultimate from WIN 7 Home. To this date, it has been a fairly good experience. Some programs it likes; others it is not so happy with (WIN or Hp?). Last weekend, I put the software disk in the machine to add a Brother 7860DW all-in-one printer. It took the desk, but kept it!! Could not get it out. Called Hp and spoke to some folks in Mumbai. All the simple efforts were tried and to no avail....the drive is broken! They are sending one FEDEX next day air today and should have it in within a couple of days...I then have to send the broken disk player back to them in same box the new one is sent in, prepaid. There are instructions for me to replace the unit (I am no geek...but have been building my own systems for years) so there should be no issue. If you can not do this type of repair, then you have to send the whole machine to them or take it to a authorized shop. I will do the work, thank you !! Other then that, it is a nice machine. Had it balk one time on a Blue-ray disk but, nothing other....and true about cats. That tail sends email and opens sites while you are trying to do taxes...lol. Just put kitty on the floor.Problem solved. My wife has the similar machine by Dell. It is ok, but she does not want to by another Dell. We had to replace her optical reader/writer also (they have a tech come out and do it....cool). I like the Hp better but the lack of support is notable. They were nice in Mumbai and we corrected the problem, but no tech coming out to do the exchange. At $1500 or so, they should be sending someone to be honest. Touch screen can be fun; the light out the bottom is interesting and a bit cool; plenty of in/out ports (to include HDMI); keyboard and mouse an quite good (nice tactile on the keyboard with a style and touch of a laptop); speakers are reasonable but have not yet tried the TV yet. Perhaps later, then will update this. We got this from Amazon but my wife ordered it for me but doing the review on my account.
