hp dv7- a don't buy Sep 23, 2010
By Nolen Clark The HP pavillions, including dv7, have a number of problems, such as the hinge breaks and is not covered by the warranty. Keyboard breaks soon too- it is covered but you have to seen your whole pc to them and be without it. The call center is in India and is very frustrating, even if you can understand your tech support person.
Not a good buy for the money, fragile and breaks easily and quickly

So Far So Good... Sep 26, 2010

Have been using the new laptop for about a month and so far no issues. Did a lot of research and this computer is a lot of bang for the buck. I don't like the shiny plastic and the chrome mouse pad which shows every smudge and fingerprint. We will see what the future holds.

Great laptop but... Oct 24, 2010
By Bennie Cape Town Great laptop. Smart, fast, reliable*, good looking.
But, major cons which swollen and trash all the good things - screen cracks up by itself. My laptop stay put, open and set - so its not moved around, whatsoever. Did a bit of research on the net and it seems I am not the only one. There's also "dust?" under the screen - and apparently, its with all of them.
Secondly. use an external keyboard and mouse, because the material or paint? at the bottom of the keyboard - wears out very quickly.
Love this laptop, but my point is I spent hard earned money and I saved a long time to buy a good and decent laptop - I did not buy a laptop with some manufacturer default.
I sepnt that money thinking that I'll have a good laptop, lasting for years, if I look well after it.
Very disappointing, and this "default" is not covered.
Blu-ray drive dead, bad memory and now power jack failure Dec 11, 2011
By Mad Moai I've had this laptop for about 20 months now and it's already looking like it needs to go. Within the first couple of months the Blu-ray drive died and a memory stick went bad. I had to ship out the laptop to HP twice for both issues to be fixed. Seems they missed the memory problem during the first repair.
Until last week everything seemed to be fine but now the power jack won't work at all. I've tried a new AC adapter as well to no avail. Unfortunately the laptop is out of warranty now so the cost is on me to have it repaired.
Bottom line - I'll never by another HP PC or laptop again.
its wonderful! Sep 25, 2011
