5So Much Fun!!!  Jun 09, 2010 By Jeremy B
I picked this up at midnight on release day and played for hours! It is so much fun and is a must for any Green Day fan. It features all the songs from Dookie, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown and a number of other songs from their other releases. You can do a career mode where you start out playing smaller venues and the bands earlier songs - As you progress you play more recent songs and play larger and larger venues. The game play is spot on with the other Rock Band releases and the graphics are great. I am a huge Green Day fan and this is a video game dream come true! If you like Green Day and want to play their songs in Rock Band, you need to buy this game! It is a ton of fun!!

4A Nice Appetizer on the Way to Rock Band 3  Jun 12, 2010 By Mark Radulich "Political Shrink"
Green Day: Rock Band (for the Wii) is a great supplement to the vastly growing catalog of rhythm games. Harmonix seemed to be toiling in boredom with their early track-packs and their first endeavor to create a "band only" game fell flat with 2008's Rock Band: AC/DC Track Pack. But then they hit it out of the park with last year's hot holiday wish list item, The Beatles: Rock Band. Green Day: Rock Band is far and away better than the track-packs they've put out but it doesn't quite exceed past The Beatles in depth or majesty; but that's OK, it doesn't have to.

This is a stand alone game, which fans of rhythm games I'm sure are thrilled by as I would imagine we're all pretty tired of having to buy the newest and coolest peripherals (I myself own 4 guitars). The game play appears to be exactly like Rock Band games of the past; the same five note colors traveling down the same clear neck. Depending on your personal taste this can be either great or pretty boring. The Guitar Hero series allows you to alter the note highway allowing for more variety (aesthetically) in game play whereas the Harmonix games don't allow any alterations in that arena at all. Now if you don't care about aesthetics and just want to rock out then this is a minor quibble.

The song selection is fantastic. Green Day has been around since the early 90's and finally broke through to mainstream audiences with their third LP, "Dookie," when their song celebrating slacker culture and masturbation, Longview became an instant hit on MTV in 1994. Ever since then they've been at the upper echelon's of pop culture, churning out punk rock records every few years, managing to remain relevant even when their chosen musical form ceased being so. All of the classic anthems fans of come to know and love are here including songs from last year's smash offering, "21st Century Breakdown." I would have liked some representation from "Kerplunk!" but again, that's a minor quibble.

Following the same pattern as The Beatles, players assume the roles of Green Day and follow them from small gigs in The Warehouse all the way to The Fox Theater in Oakland, which unfortunately is the third in three playable venues. This is somewhat of a letdown as one of the staples in Harmonix rhythm games is the virtual touring. That was also one of the nice things about The Beatles. You got to follow their history through historical gigs. Now I'm not comparing The Beatles rich history to Green Day's but the latter band does have some interesting history and it's not represented in the game.

The graphics are as good if not better than the older Harmonix offerings. The Green Day avatars are as close to looking like their real life counterparts as one can get with this level of technology. And speaking of technology, just like all of the recent rhythm games, the peripherals are cross compatible with the Guitar Hero series (assuming you have peripherals from Rock Band 2 or after).

All in all if you are a fan of Green Day and/or rhythm games you should enjoy this title. It is a nice stopgap offering on the way to this holiday's season wish list item, the much-ballyhooed Rock Band 3.

4Green Rock  Jun 14, 2010 By Michael Kerner "Michael Kerner"
There is no question about the needs for rock artists to expand their horizons into video games. That has definitely shown with Rock Band & Guitar Hero as acts like Metallica, Aerosmith, and the legendary Beatles have recently showcased their music and their talents to their music in these challenging games. Green Day is now making that attempt to bring their music from their near 20 year career to the Rock Band stage. That absolutely hit the nail on the head well, with their continuing success of the American Idiot musical, and their continued triumphs with 21st Century Breakdown winning the Grammy award for Best Rock Album. BUt with Green Day now coming to Rock Band, can they deliver a really strong title? The answer is yes.

Green Day: Rock Band re-introduces their music library to a whole new audience of hard core gamers everywhere. The gameplay is shown as you see Green Day deliver through when they were Punk Rockers from their breakthrough days with Dookie, to their showcase of being serious and Political icons from their landmark 2004 album American Idiot album. Their biggest hits are really showcased here including 21 Guns, the intimate Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, as well as their breakthrough original debut songs from Dookie like When I Come Around and Basket Case. The graphics look good and the gameplay is very strong if your've played Rock Band before. What also does deliver well is just like what The Beatles: Rock Band had done last year, by having you use not just the guitars from Rock Band, but you can also use those from the Guitar Hero games as well. While the showcasing isn't as drawn into from the landscapes as The Beatles: Rock Band, it definitely falls in suit to Billie Jow & company in their own right.

All in all, despite some of their early hits from their independent label days aren't here, Green Day: Rock Band still remains as very solid game for hard core fans of Guitar Hero & Rock Band alike. It is a nice escape from the world around you, and a new treat for anyone whom has never heard Green Day's music and for hard core Green Day fans everywhere. When should you come around, right here into this game.

5Great Game For Green Day Lovers  Aug 21, 2011 By Acam
I got this game for Christmas, and as being a fan of Green Day, I loved this game from the start. The game is everything the rest of the games in the series were but with Green Day.

Pros
Great tracks you can ROCK out to, very few songs with boring parts
Great graphics, character models were actually approved by Green Day for accuracy
Great frame rate, some other Rockband games (namely 2) have had poor frame rates in parts

Cons
Not many great (but many good) guitar parts, mainly bass and drum parts are the best
Some songs are REALLY difficult on drums.
You have to buy half of 21rst Century Breakdown

Conclusion
If you are a fan of Green Day and already own the Rockband equiptment, for the $ 1 5 you can get it here, it;s a great value.

5great game for a reasonable price.  Nov 02, 2010 By Sebastien 01
This game is great fun. The number of songs that you can play are amasing and the replay value it's very good. The easy mode, I would say that it's a little to easy if you already know how to play but level medium is awesome. I love green day and this game is real good. You have online mode, carreer and two other that a haven't been yet. The carreer mode is very good you have to play songs and earn some respect points to open some fixture blocked. You can also open many songs that are blocked and many videos and pictures from Green day. It's a good deal I love this game and to play with high volume.
