1"Dream on Me" is a Nightmare for customer support  Dec 08, 2009 By Christopher C. Krumlauf
Don't waste your time buying a product from "Dream On Me." We bought this bed when our two year old decided to start climbing out of her crib. It arrived quickly from Amazon. Upon opening the box and assembling it we discovered issues. Issue one: the back side of the bed had a slat that was broken. Issue two: the drawer doesn't fit correctly -- it sticks (that we can live with). The minor issue is the general fit and quality of all the parts--they don't. Oh, and it's entirely made in China. Disregard the made in the USA claim in the advertisement.

Disappointing, but stuff like this happens. Most companies that sell this kind of furniture, such as Sauder, will send you a replacement part if you call them. I found a number in the assembly instructions and called it. It didn't work. It's not in service.

Now I was worried, but fortunately the internet came through. On the "Dream on Me" website is a number and several reassuring statements that I would eventually discover to be lies, among the most choice were: "We pride ourselves in quality service" and "Our customer's satisfaction is our top priority."

I called and got a receptionist or an answering service and was transferred to voice mail. I left my contact information and a description of the problem. No response. Called again later in the week. Same thing. Called again even later in the week and got through! I related my problem to Alissa in customer service. Her response:

"We're the manufacturer, we don't deal with customers."

Stunning.

She seemed perplexed when I asked why they had a toll free number if they don't deal with customers. She proceeded to tell me how I didn't get it. Basically, my expectation of having a manufacturer stand behind their brand new product was ridiculous. She also tried to explain to me how they "don't work that way." Then she began a lecture: how do they know I actually bought the crib? (like this is a little scam I do--call up companies and asked them for a replacement part--in ten years I'll be able to assemble a complete bed!!! I volunteered to fax a copy of the receipt, but no, they don't work that way.)

So now I've got to take this bed apart and mail it back to Amazon after my Toddler has already been slept in it. (silly me, I let her sleep in it because never in a million years did I imagine the manufacture wouldn't correct the problem). Looking forward to more confused sleeping nights because, if you have a Toddler, changing beds isn't easy.

Thank you "Dream on Me" for the nightmare the next couple of nights will be.

5Amazing Little Bed!!!  Feb 17, 2011 By KLaliberte
I bought this for my daughter who is 17 Months because she was already crawling out of her crib and I didn't want her to get hurt from falling out. Despite some of the reviews I was hesitant to purchase it, But for the price and because it was so adorable I couldn't pass it up. It took about 45 minutes or so to put it together which wasn't bad at all (and I'm pregnant) and all the parts fit perfectly including the draw. (which does NOT stick as some reviews stated) Although the draw is not deep it would be suitable for storage of sheets, pillow cases and thin blankets. All in all I give it 5 Stars it is perfect for what I needed it for and my daughter absolutely loves it. For the first time I actually got to sleep in this morning because she quietly got out of her bed and played for a half and hour or so until I came into peek on her and see what she was up to. My only concern is that the toddler rail is a little short but the bed is so close to the ground even if she were to fall out it is only about a 1/2 a foot from the floor. Product is def a great purchase for a toddler who is under two who is crawling out of their crib, I could not be happier with my purchase!! Thank You!!

3Not bad . . . but not great, either.  Mar 03, 2010 By Kriss
We ordered this toddler bed to give our little guy an extra place to hang out & relax in our master bedroom. His favorite episodes of Jack's Big Music Show are saved on the Tivo in there; but he doesn't like sitting on our bed. With a Saint Bernard and a Great Pyrenees battling for bed space, I can't say I blame him! :)

Anyway, the bed is just okay. Two of the rails that hold the mattress in place aren't long enough for the frame, so they fall out of place every time we lift the mattress to change the waterproof pad & fitted sheet. I tried using a little wood glue to hold the slats in place, but the pegs are just way too short & keep falling out of the pre-drilled holes. (It's built like a futon or a platform bed frame.)

The other problem? The screws that hold the half rail in place are too short, and it's already snapped off. He's not a big kid - only 27# at 18 months old - so it wasn't from him being too heavy for the bed. I think it's just a design flaw.

Oh, and the wood for the drawer is complete and utter crap. Way too flimsy to hold anything heavier than a postage stamp.

All in all, it's not a horrible bed. But for 180 bucks, I expected the build quality to be better than it is.

5Toddler day bed  Dec 30, 2010 By S. Brown
We were so happy that my daughter transitioned easily with this bed. It looks similar to a crib. She absolutely fell in love with it when my husband finished putting it together. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a new bed for their toddler. The secret drawer underneath is great for storing extra clothes or toys.

2I wouldn't recommend this product...  Mar 19, 2012 By LaNomo
I was looking for a bed for my daughter and after a long search I settled on this one. My thought was that I am not rich and my daughter isn't even 2 yet so I know it won't matter to her much. I didn't want to buy something very expensive given that it will probably get kinda beat up, she is a toddler after all. However I did want to get something somewhat decent for her for now and when she's a little older then I would buy a really nice bedroom set for her.

I received the bed in the mail and opened it up a couple of days later. I took all of the pieces out of the box and laid them out and made sure they were all there. They were. However the main back of the bed had a huge crack in the wide middle slat right where it connects to the top rail. The board was split from front to back and was about 4-5 inches long. I stopped and thought about packing it back up and sending it back but I reminded myself it's only temporary and I'm sure the trouble of packing it up and sending it back and waiting for a new one will be more stressful that living with a cracked bed. It was only cosmetic and did not hamper the strength of the bed so I decided to proceed.

I started assembly following the instructions. It started out well, but when I came to the round interlocking screw pieces, that's when it got bad. Everyone of them broke on me. They were cast out of cheap white metal and they all broke after trying to tighten them. We had to run to the hardware store and buy all new ones. After that it went well and the bed was fully assembled and set up. It looks nice and is sturdy. Was it worth the $180? Not even close. I will build my own next time. This is a $50 product. I highly suggest to anyone looking at it to skip it and look for something else. The company is based in the US but it all comes from China. I Would also urge Amazon to drop them from their store.
