Description

When Jon and Josh Graham of Graham Knives in Cleveland Tennessee developed their custom Graham Razel™ in 2001 most knife blades came to a single point. Not the Razel. It’s a cross between a chisel and a razor with a knife handle. The result gives two useful Razor-Sharp™ edges one for pushing or tapping and the other for precise cutting. You also get two strong blade points. The Graham brothers have been very successful with their custom versions in a variety of sizes and styles. The CRKT production Razel models follow the Graham concept faithfully with very thick full-tang blades of premium 9Cr18MoV (similar to 440C) stainless steel in a brushed finish hand-contoured Micarta® handles and custom-fitted Kydex® sheaths. How are mechanics carpenters farmers and home craftsmen using their Razel models? The Grahams report: Scraping gaskets removing paint and stickers. Chiseling to make reliefs mortises and tenons. Prying tight-fitting parts. Cutting things like paracord wire insulation radiator hose plastic ties and tubing. Taper reaming a hole with the twist of the wrist. Reaching into tight spaces and push cutting with the chisel edge. Opening feed bags and cutting through bales of hay. You name it the Razel does it.Our Razel™ SS7 is a humongous 13.8-ounce work tool with the look of a cleaver and the heft of a hatchet. The full-tang blade is 0.25” thick with cutting edges of 1.70” and 7.25” plus a 3.70” top cutting edge with Veff™ Serrations. The butt features a bottle and jar opener. You can use it to cut through thickets or jungle and in emergency situations to release tangles of rope ors.

5Holy Moly!  Sep 08, 2008 By J. Wegner
"That's not a knife ... THIS is a knife, mate!"

When you look at the real thing, you'll be amazed.

Hold it and you'll be entranced.

If you love sharp objects, you NEED to have this knife. Or is it a tool? Or is it a hatched? Machete?

Be careful though, this thing is sharp everywhere. When it is out of its sheath, no matter where you touch it, it can cut. I love it.

One small gripe is that the unit I received has a hardened glass breaker (?) point poking out of the butt. This is of questionable use (you're going to carry this beast in the car with you!?!) and it can poke painfully into your side, while carrying the knife in its sheath, if you bend over to the knife side. Can't file it off because it is harder than file steel. May have to grind it away.

All in all, this one is a keeper and a grand addition to the collection.

UPDATE:

I locked a pair of Vise Grips onto the stupid "glass breaker" point and twisted/pulled it right out of the handle. It isn't brazed in or anything. I highly recommend its removal.

Still love the knife. I used it after Hurricane Ike, clearing and cutting up tree limbs down in our yard. Faster than a hatchet or limb saw because it is so sharp. Beat the hooha out of this critter and there are zero marks, nicks or blemishes on the blade. Good metallurgy, CRKT!

5Jeez  Jul 30, 2009 By C. Hargrave "C Hargrave"
This is what you would want if surrounded by Zombies and you had to slice your way out. It was a little shorter than I thought it might be so it is not an actual machete. More like a cleaver on steroids. Sharp everywhere except just in front of the guard so you can put your thumb there for pressure and control. I teach knife fighting so you can easily use it for that as well as various chopping chores such as brush. At the price I paid I am unsure if I would use it to chop up limbs and brush but I can if its needed. I am also going to get one of the Spec Plus machette to do the grunt work and not worry about tearing this one up. At a hundred bucks less who cares what you have to hack through.
If its in your way it wont stand a chance. Very well made, and the little glass breaker thing on the end is so small I really dont notice it. That part is designed to desinigrate glass panes or auto glass for entry or escape with little fuss. Everyone I show it to goes "JEEZ, WHAT THE HELL" so be aware it is an attention getting blade. He stays by my bedside at night. On the other hand if you had to use this in your house on an intruder you should have a power washer for cleanup, so maybe the glock would be less messy all around.
Ok Im done rambling, glad I got it and you will be too.

5My New Favorite!!!!!!!  Sep 05, 2011 By kreid
Great product!!! I'm not to sure about what everyone is saying about the handle being to small. I have large hands (XXL size gloves) and the knife fits my hands well. The handle is a little small in diameter but it will fit large hands no problem. the weight is very nice, a little heavier toward the end of the blade, like a small machete (perfect!!) I recommend this small sword for anyone. great survival knife/ camp / anything. I have not used this knife on anything yet but it seems like a very solid product (cutting tree limbs/ hacking bushes/ using the chisel end, pretty much anything, should be no problem.) you could even use it to dig a small trench around your tent if you needed. The glass breaker does scratch my arm sometimes when i carry the knife on my belt. as it sits a little high ( when you put it on your belt.) i went to adjust it and the four screws that go into the rivets in the kydex case are adjustable, but very slightly ( about 1/4"- 1/2") which helped a little bit. Someone stated in a previous review that you can use a pair of vice grips or something similar to pull the glass breaker off. This makes a lot of sense because the glass breaker is only about a 1/8 to a 1/4" long and you can use the many other features to break a pane of glass with ease ( seeing that the knife is 7-7.5 in long, the blade would work just fine. w/ the excepting of bullet proof glass...) the handle feels great in a reverse or ice pick or reverse ice pick grip. No complaints about this product. Im interested in seeing the veff serration in action as i have never seen it before on any other product. It seems like it will work well with bigger ropes and whatnot. as for the kydex sheath, i cant complain about it. it works, its better than no sheath!! Theres a clip on the back side of it, its very similar to your waist clip on a multiple day hiking backpack, it works well but is a pain to get off your belt (as for reaching under the sheath and squeezing both sides, then pulling on it to release. This may be just my hand size?) It is oriented vertically on the back of the kydex sheath and clips on toward the bottom ( sorry for no pics, new to amazon and whatnot.) Over all, i love it!!! would never trade or sell it for anything. will recommend it to all my friends and family members. the bottle opener works awesome too, just tried it out!!

4CRKT Survival tool  Oct 02, 2011 By Industrial Machine Service "Tech Master"
This is great combination survival knife, although the glass breaker might be a little out of place since this knife is to large to riding in your car with it strapped to your side.
