Best deal on thick mats. Apr 26, 2010
By Tired & Dirty I have not seen a better deal on this type of foam mat online, mainly due to the free shipping. You can get cheaper/thinner ones from Cap Barbell and others, but you would not be saving much money over these. Forget eBay, shipping costs will ruin any deal.
That said, these are not fancy and the diamond-plate pattern is a bit unattractive (personal taste) and irregular. Some of the pattern angles are WAY off, so don't expect all your tiles to match perfectly. That is more of an issue if you buy more than one set like I did. This is superficial, however. The mats do lock well together to perform their function admirably.
My only wish is that they would design a greater variety of edge pieces. There are only a few variations of edges, and depending on the overall shapes you are configuring, you may have bizarre looking corners because the appropriate edge piece doesn't exist to make it look right. If you are just making giant rectangles you should be OK.
Recommended. If I need more mats, this is where I will come first.
P.S. The description is wrong. It comes with 6 pieces, not 4. Each piece is 2x2 (4 sq. ft). 6 pieces x 4 sq. ft. = 24 sq. ft. I took a chance when I ordered, as I knew their math made no sense, and I'm glad I was right. They probably just copy/pasted the description from a similar but different item.

Nice Mats Jul 21, 2010
By Wendi Dickerson We bought two sets of mats to use for P90X. While overall I am happy, I do have a couple of complaints. One is that some of the pieces do not stay locked together, so there is a gap between where they meet and even though we have taken them apart and put them back together, it doesn't go away! The other is that in one session of Kenpo, from turning my foot on the mat, the top layer began to peel away. Kind of disappointing. But they do the job of absorbing shock which is what we wanted.

Cap Barbell Makes Excellent mats Feb 08, 2009

I have had these mats for 1 month now and they are Excellent I could not do my work out properly because I could not drop the weight on the floor.
They make walking around the room much better because you are not standing on floor boards. When Heavy weight is left on the mat 70lbs. or better the weight leaves an impresion which fades away.I have Deadlifted
220lbs. on the Cap Barbell mat and no banging was heard on the floor.
They are Excelent

Terrible purchase! Feb 01, 2011
By MAMA I got these mats for my home gym because I got more weight equipments. Not what I expected from the pictures advertised. The patterns did not match when the mats are interlocked, the shades were completely off, and the smell was unbearable! There were already tears on the mats and some of the mats didn't even interlock completely! Very misleading. I'm going return these mats and upload photos of these problems.

Solid Dec 15, 2010
By miteemike3 I ordered these mats to use for a home gym I was creating in a spare bedroom with brand new wood flooring, so I wanted something thick and durable to protect it. I've got about 300lbs of olympic plates and random dumbells so the mats had to be able to at least handle that weight without ripping or permanently indenting. Overall the mats do the job and work quite well. They were easy to connect although some of the edges on the trim pieces don't sit flush together, a little bit of an eyesore but hey, it's a gym. My only gripe is that the surface is a little slippery and is sometimes hard to gain traction when doing some lifts. Four stars only because of the slippery surface, but overall for the price, it's a great buy.
