| | Description | For perfect photos, fast and simple, there's nothing better than Canon's EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR Camera. With powerful features including a 10.1-megapixel CMOS Sensor, Canon's DIGIC III processor, fast shooting and more, it's a digital powerhouse. With simple, easy-to-use controls, a compact design, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor, and Live View Function, it's a beginner's dream come true.
The camera also incorporates the Highlight Tone Priority and High-ISO Noise Reduction functions (previously found only on Canon's Professional Digital SLRs) and the camera is equipped with Canon's Auto Lighting Optimizer technology, which corrects image brightness and contrast automatically to prevent underexposure with backlit scenes.
The EOS Rebel XS is also fast - capable of continuously capturing 3 frames per second for bursts of over 500 images. The faster frame rates and finer focusing capabilities of the Rebel XS together with its impressive image burst rate will help photo enthusiasts capture split second action at just the right moment. | |

A Very Nice Alternative Jul 09, 2010
By Joel B. Reed

Ever since I started using a Canon camera (the old F model of the late Sixties), I have followed the rule that it is better to spend one's money on good glass than slightly better body quality. I chose this model over the XSi because of the price difference. The two megapixels more was not worth the $155.00 extra to me, and a year of use confirms my decision. As does the comparison by Bob Atkins. The dollars I saved went to buying a 7D this year, a major body quality upgrade, and the dollars saved from buying that rather than a 5D are going toward another first class lens. Make no mistake, this is a first class camera for almost any kind of photography. It is five star quality all the way across the board, and I recommend it highly to anyone on a tight budget.

definite upgrade Apr 15, 2010
By Leah Sauber I am verry into my family pictures. I've been using point and shot cameras forever this is my first SLR and what a difference!!!! I can never go back. The pictures come out so crisp and clear. The price was also great as an added bonus. I recommended this camera to my friends & family, and those that took my advice thank me every day.

great camera Jun 21, 2010

I was informed to buy this camera without a lens because the lenses available to purchase are much better. I bought the 50mm lens, and it is great. I suggest buying some sort of zoom lens though because you will want to be able to zoom in and zoom out.

Works like a charm Sep 06, 2010

This camera is exactly what I was looking for, works perfect with my Canon lenses and performs even better than my old film Canon EOS Rebel. I will be using it for a long time, although the 10.1 MP won't be enough soon. I'm using it with an EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM wide angle lens and an EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens. Both work accurately and fast

Very great starter. Jun 28, 2011
By Phillip G. Pahl I bought this body but instead of canons kit lens, I added a Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC kit lens to my list. Have to say I love it, the options are easy to use. Battery life on this is very great, I'm able to go all day with a fully charged battery the body can't say much being this my first dslr but without all the bells and whistles it is a very great way to start off on a dslr.
