| | Description | The CHAMBORD Coffeemaker is the Original French Press. When Bodum took over a small clarinet factory in Normandy in 1982, it was not because of the fine orchestra clarinets they were producing but because of a relatively unknown coffee maker called the Chambord which they produced as well. The reason the French press coffeemaker has become one of the most popular coffeemakers in the world is pure and simple- taste. The materials are completely taste-free so nothing comes between your ground coffee beans. This is exactly the reason why coffee tasters use this method to determine the quality of coffee beans. The 3-part stainless steel plunger has a fine mesh filter, which allows for a premium extraction of your coffee’s aromatic oils and subtle flavors. A mesh filter allows this flavor to be delivered direct to your cup and not absorbed by a paper filter. Plus, no paper filter means no waste! The patented safety lid prevents the splashing of liquids while pressing. Simplicity works best and is the reason why the Chambord’s design has not changed a bit from its original drawing. This 3-cup model (0.35 l, 12 oz.) features a BPA-free, SAN plastic carafe which is shatter-resistant. Also available in 4 cup (0.6 l, 17 oz.), 8 cup (1.0, 34 oz.) and 12 cup (1.5 l, 51 oz.) size models. | |

shatterproof-yes, beautiful - no Sep 15, 2010
By Laura Killingsworth this is my third Bodum Chambord coffee press, I love the product usually. However, the shatterproof option was a bad choice for me. Shatterproof equals plastic! The coffee has a distictive plastic taste, very unpleasant, will not recommend this product.

Makes only ONE cup of coffee Jan 21, 2010
By William Carson This product is great. However, I purchased it thinking it would make three AMERICAN size cups of coffee. However, a cup is only considered 3-4 ounces by this company, so it is significantly less than the 10 ounce cup that is used in the USA. Regardless, it makes a great cup of coffee. I am not a big coffee drinker and live alone, so one cup at a time is good enough for me. However, if you drink a lot of coffee or are making coffee for more than one person I would go for the larger size.

mini Jan 16, 2011
By debbyvenus This french press is well made however is much smaller than I envisioned. Make sure you know how much is 12 oz. before you purchase. I should have gotten the larger one!

8 oz ...not 3 cups Sep 24, 2010

plunger/filter stops 1/2" from bottom; not pushing grounds all the way down. Having to leave 1" at the top, you get 8 oz of coffee...certainly not 3 cups. I still think the AeroPress is hard to beat.

Good, solid French Press Aug 24, 2010
By Brian Combs, ionadas local LLC I haven't yet tested the "shatterproof" feature (although I'm sure I will eventually), but as a French Press, the Bodum works great.
