5Nice rake for close quarters  Dec 09, 2009 By Comdet
I have to admit that I got this at a close-out sale at a big box store. Picked it up on a lark due to the low cost, but have found that it is a useful tool to have, especially for getting under open-branched shrubs and rose plants.

I have a similar rake that has an extendable handle (made by Corona - see my other reviews if you're interested) which is good for dense shrubs so you don't get tangled up in them when pulling out leaves. This, however, is excellent for close-quarter work when you have easy access. Also easy to keep on hand in the tool bucket I carry around when doing yard work.

The tines are metal and very flexible. That's a good thing, since it minimizes/prevents damaging the shrub should you rake over it. However, it makes it somewhat cumbersome when trying to extract big clumps of wet leaves.

Nice handle, comfortable to use. Good construction and a good value.

5kumquat  Apr 02, 2010 By J. Wong "Kumquat"
I just love this little rake to reach hard area to get to. It is so portable I even use it at my dad house just to help. Even I can use it on my back if I have an itch. Highly recommend the rake.

5Great rake  Apr 18, 2010 By P. Miller "Gardening Girl"
Using this hand rake is the best way to rake around those tender early plants. I couldn't garden without it!

5ease!  Apr 11, 2011 By Gerald P. Garrett
I suffered a bad injury that left me a paraplegic but it hasn't slowed me down much when comes to tending and planting my garden. My herb garden is huge. This fan rake from B&D has made my gardening chores so much easier from a wheelchair. It has made cleaning and prepping all of my garden beds this spring a breeze...and fun. The short handle gives you precise control of the tool without damaging existing plants. I wish I had purchased one a long time ago...even before I got hurt.

5Wish I had bought this sooner!  Aug 05, 2011 By C. Aronson
I have a compact vegetable garden and raking it when everything is producing, has been next to impossible. I saw this rake and thought I would give it a try and now I am sorry I hadn't bought it sooner! Besides the fact that the fan shape lets you clean a large area, the rake is flexible enough to let you rake over tender vegetation, such as parsley, without damaging it! My neighbor has a holly tree that drops its leaves into part of my garden and if you have ever handled dry holly leaves, you know pain! I use to try and pick the leaves out of the garden and even with gloves on, get stuck by them. Now, I just rake them out...no pain in this case means big gain! I also purchased the Wolf Garten Mini Rake (see separate review) and between the two of them, my garden is looking clean and great! This is a quality tool, well constructed, and I look forward to years of happy use.
