Upgraded from an AMD Athlon 64X2 4200+ to this processor. I purchased this when it was on sale as a mobo+cpu deal for a total of 105.99. I got a great deal. It was more than what I needed or expected. Each core has its own cache so that means no waiting or latency. Everything seems to work three times faster. Works great for downloading, burning CDs, and playing video games. All my programs and applications open and respond quickly. Windows 7 loads up quickly. I usually have Firefox open with about 6 or 7 tabs, Google Chrome with about 4 tabs, Steam going, downloading bit torrents, and burning DVDs to dual layer discs. There is no lag when I am playing Left For Dead. Trust me when I say you can get a lot done in a little time with this processor. You can unlock the 4th core with some boards. I didn't see a need really so I left it alone. I was initially going to get a quad-core processor, but I am so glad I went with this one. Not only did I save money, but I got an awesome processor that does more than 5 times what I paid for it. You just can't beat that!!!

Anything less than a triple core isn't good enogh for me. Fast, cheap compared to Intel. Box version includes fan, heatsink and is pre-pasted for mounting.

For a few dollars more then the 250 you get an extra core. Lovely. Using this with ddr3-1600 I got 40-60 fps boost on bad company 2 from my aged 2.2ghz 4400+ and ddr-333. Dont hesitate, gets 6.8 in windows ratings. Everything starts up immediately. Going to try some encoding 720p later to see how that works. Dont wait, just buy it already.

I paired this processor with a Gigabyte motherboard, no hassles, I also overclocked it just for the fun of it to 3.3ghz runs cool and fast! highly recommended!
